Our Public Transport promotion is for out of peak season only. Please make arrangements accordingly before your arrival.
Please note: If hiking in the Eastern Cape and a Xhosa driver gives you a lift, it is customary to offer the driver some cash for the ride.
Hitch-hiking in the area is generally safe, and the folk of the Eastern Cape are very friendly.
We suggest hiking from Auckland/Khayalethu up to Hogsback or Terra-Khaya
We do not suggest hiking or catching taxis after dark.
Ask the driver of the taxi to please drop you at the connecting taxi, they are always helpful and obliging 🙂
By Minibus Taxi from East London (± R150.00)
From the main taxi rank in East London, catch a minibus to King Williams Town, then a second taxi to Alice. Then take another minibus taxi to Auckland or Hogsback (whichever available) – our shuttle will collect you from the taxi stop in either Alice or Auckland or Hogsback. Please call to arrange.

From the taxi rank opposite the Engin Garage in Beaufort St in Grahamstown, catch a minibus to Alice (easiest in the morning, as the taxi can sometimes take a while to fill up with passengers). Then take another minibus taxi to Auckland or Hogsback (whichever available) – our shuttle will collect you from the taxi stop in either Alice or Auckland or Hogsback. Please call to arrange.
